October 21, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Mercy By The Sea, 167 Neck Road
Madison, CT 06443 United States
$50.00

How do grief and hope co-exist in our hearts? How is that possible? Some of us deny the seeds of hope in our grieving hearts, thinking we must remain faithful to our loved one’s memory. Hope is as alive as our grief. It does not take away the pain, but lives alongside it. Hope sustains our wounded heart as as we find our way though the land of Loss. This day of reflection will include the support of community, prayer, ritual and quiet - each valuable resources for healing a grieving heart.

The season of Lent invites us to deepen our prayer, to prepare our hearts for the paschal mystery. This five week series is designed to enliven our relationship with God through scripture, creative prayer and faith-sharing. Participants will receive suggestions for daily meditation, developed by Michael Hansen, SJ in his book “The First Spiritual Exercises,” and commit to a regular time of private prayer.  Then, once a week, the group will come together to process and listen to the stirrings of the Spirit. This will become an extended retreat that co-exists with daily life, while grounding our awareness of God in our midst. The sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 9:30-11am:  February 20, 27, March 6, 13 and 20. The fee for the 5 week series is $75.00.
